Welcome to From the Workshop.  This week I would like to unveil a fun new weapon property for fighters everywhere who have always wanted to throw that fireball right back at those cocky wizards.

Energy Turning [Weapon Property]

An energy turning weapon grants resistance to an energy type (acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic).  Damage prevented by the weapon is stored within a gem in the weapon's crossguard.  You can use this stored power to release a torrent of energy from your blade.  As a standard action, make a ranged touch attack against a target within 60’ of you to deal 1d6 damage per 5 points of stored energy.  This attack deals an extra 1d6 damage if the weapon also deals energy damage of the type it grants resistance to, i.e., it is a flaming sword which grants resistance to fire. The max damage for a least energy turning weapon is 1d6, for a lesser energy turning weapon, 2d6, for an improved energy turning weapon, 4d6, for a greater energy turning weapon, 6d6. Stored energy remains in the gem for 24 hours.
A least energy turning weapon grants 5 points of resistance. A lesser energy turning weapon grants 10 points of resistance. An improved energy turning weapon grants 20 points of resistance. A greater energy turning weapon grants 30 points of resistance.
Faint abjuration; CL 3rd (least and lesser), 7th (improved), 11th (greater); Craft Magic Arms and Armor, resist energy; Price +8,000 gp (least), +22,000 gp (lesser), +50,000 gp (improved), +80,000 gp (greater)

Backdraft Blade

This is a +1 flaming burst falchion of lesser fire turning. Once per day, the sword can release a wave of fire in all directions.  All creatures within 10’ of you must make a Reflex save (DC 15 half) or take 1d6 points of fire damage per 5 points of stored fire energy. Non-magical fires caught in this burst are extinguished.
