From the Workshop Archive

Welcome again to From the Workshop, where we showcase a bevy of new magic items, monsters and even alternate class features. As you all know this week is Sci-fi Week, so I thought I would make a new Pathfinder player race for the iconic aliens know as greys.

Greys

Physical Description: Greys are tall, grey-skinned humanoids with elongated bodies. Their heads are unusually large in relation to their body and they have no hair anywhere on the body, including the face, and no noticeable outer ears or noses, but only small openings or orifices for ears and nostrils. They also have very small mouths, and very large, opaque black eyes with no discernible iris or pupil.

Society: Not much is known about their society.

Relations: Greys see themselves above other humanoid races due to their advanced technology. Some greys see themselves as caretakers of the “lesser” races and try to secretly improve the lives of these people.

Alignment and Religion: Greys don’t favor one alignment over another and aren’t particularly religious.

Adventurers: Grey adventurers are very rare. Those greys who do go to the material plane on their own often go there to escape their own kind, while others are sometimes exiled to the material plane with no hope of ever getting home.

Grey Racial Traits

  • +6 Intelligence, -2 Strength, -2 Constitution: Greys possess a superior intellect, at the cost of a physically weak body.
  • Humanoid Type: Greys are creatures with the humanoid type and the grey subtype.
  • Medium: Greys are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Normal Speed: Greys have a base speed of 30 feet.
  • Darkvision: Greys can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
  • Technologically Advanced: Greys can manufacture energy weapons through mundane means and do not require the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat.
  • Telepathic: Greys speak telepathically by transmitting their thoughts to all creatures in within 100 ft. on the grey. A grey can also whisper by spending their thoughts to one creature instead of transmitting to all creatures.
  • Weapon Familiarity: Greys are proficient with all energy weapons.

Languages: Greys begin play speaking Grey. Greys with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

Energy Weapons

Energy Weapons

Energy weapons each have 40 charges which are renewed each day at dawn. These charges are expended with each attack made with the weapon, regardless of whether the attack was successful or not. All ranged energy weapon have to cool down for 1 round after 10 charges are used up in under 1 minute.

Energy weapon created without the use of Craft Magic Arms and Armor do not have a magical aura.

Stun Baton
This 3-foot long metal rod has two prongs on one end and is used for subduing attackers in close quarters combat. The stun baton deals nonlethal electricity damage and doesn’t add your strength bonus to damage.

Ray Gun
The ray gun was the first ranged energy weapon developed by the greys.

Plasma Pistol
This is the improved version of the ray gun.

Plasma Rifle
This is a two-handed version of the plasma pistol.

Drone Cannon
The drone cannon is the standard ranged weapon for the security drone. The drone cannon fires a ball of energy that explodes on impact, dealing 2d6 splash damage to everything within 5 feet of the point of impact (reflex 14 half). These cannons can be salvaged (50% of the time) from destroyed security drones. Firing a drone cannon requires a full round action.
