From the Workshop Archive

Hello everyone and welcome to another exciting edition of From the Workshop, the article where we seek to bring you new and exciting miscellaneous things each and every week.  As you all know by now, this is Romance Week here at Necromancers of the Northwest, and so for this week I’ve whipped up a fun little five level prestige class that focuses on using what is perhaps the most universally recognized symbol of romance: the kiss.  Without further ado, allow me to proudly present the paramour.

Paramour

A paramour draws her power from romantic ideals and manifests her power in service to those same ideals.  A paramour’s grace, charm, and personal magnetism are the means by which she accomplishes her given tasks, and her kiss is her most powerful weapon.  Devotees of romantic love, paramours spend much of their time fostering romantic interest where none existed before, or nurturing existing relationships, taking them to new heights never before imagined.  In her own personal life, a paramour views her romantic engagements as paramount to her identity, and she will often go to great lengths to satisfy her own ideals of perfect romance, whether that means engaging in many brief passionate encounters or seeking a life a monogamous devotion.

Paramours can come from all walks of life, and their goals vary as wildly as their temperaments and can range from corrupting the hearts of lesser men and women, to bringing together lonely hearts in the interests of creating a lasting love, to simple bacchanalian lust.

Whatever the case, paramours utilize a sensuous personality and supernatural charms rather than strength of arms or spellcraft to accomplish their goals.

Requirements
Skills: Diplomacy 5 ranks
Feats: Persuasive
Proficiencies: a paramour receives no additional weapon or armor proficiencies.

The following are all class skills of the paramour: Bluff (Cha), Diplomacy (Cha), Perception (Wis), and Sense Motive (Wis).

The Paramour

Class Features

Paramour’s Kiss (Su): Starting at 1st level a paramour can make a number of special kisses per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier.  A paramour’s special kiss automatically improves the attitude of the kiss’s recipient by 1 step.  A successful melee touch attack is required in order to use her paramour’s kiss on an unwilling target.

Paramour’s Blessing (Su): At 1st, 3rd and 5th level a paramour gains one paramour’s blessing, selected from the following list.  Each paramour’s blessing adds an effect to her paramour’s kiss ability.  Whenever the paramour uses her paramour’s kiss ability to improve the attitude of her target, the target also receives the effects of all the paramour’s blessings she possesses.

At 1st level the paramour has access to the following paramour’s blessings.

Addling Kiss: The paramour’s kiss acts as a touch of idiocy spell.

Fatiguing Kiss: The paramour's kiss causes the target to become fatigued.

Inspiring Kiss: The target receives a moral bonus to all attack and damage rolls equal to the paramour’s class level.  This ability lasts a number of rounds equal to the paramour’s Charisma modifier.

Kiss of Rapture: The target is fascinated for a number of rounds equal to the paramour’s Charisma modifier.

Purifying Kiss: The paramour’s kiss acts as a remove disease spell.

Whispering Kiss: The paramour’s kiss acts as a suggestion spell, except that it does not allow a saving throw.

At 3rd level the paramour adds the following paramour’s blessing to the list she may choose from.

Bolstering Kiss: The target gains temporary hit points equal to 5 x the paramour’s Charisma modifier.

Infatuating Kiss: The target must make a Will save (DC 10 + paramour level + paramour’s Charisma modifier) or become infatuated, as though effected by the charm monster spell, with the paramour.

Kiss of Pain: The target suffers 3d6 + paramour’s Charisma modifier damage, and is sickened for 1 round.

At 5th level the paramour adds the following paramour’s blessings to the list she may choose from.

Kiss of Curses: The paramour’s kiss acts like a bestow curse spell, except that it offers no saving throw.

Kiss of Enchanted Sleep: The target must succeed on a Will save (DC 10 + paramour level + paramour’s Charisma modifier) or fall asleep for a number of hours equal to theparamour’s Charisma modifier.

Sheltering Kiss: The target gains DR 5/- for a number of rounds equal to the paramour’s Charisma modifier.

Allure (Ex): Beginning at 2nd level the paramour adds her class level as a bonus on all Charisma-based skill checks.

Improved Paramour’s Kiss (Su): Beginning at 3rd level the paramour’s kiss ability, if successful, improves the attitude of the target by 2 steps instead of 1.  Additionally, by expending 2 uses of her paramour’s kiss, she can make the attempt at a range of 30 feet.  The paramour must still succeed on a ranged touch attack to affect non-willing targets.

Gift of Obsessive Love (Su): Beginning at 5th level the paramour may once per day touch a target and whisper the name of any creature she wishes.  The next time the target sees the named creature, he falls hopelessly and obsessively in love (as though affected by charm monster) with the named creature.  The target is allowed a Will save (DC 15 + the paramour’s Charisma bonus) to negate the effect.  This effect is permanent and can only be cured by break enchantment, limited wish, wish or miracle spell.  This is a sonic, mind-affecting charm effect.

Well that’s it for this week’s From the Workshop; I hope you join us right here next week for more exciting content, but in the meantime please allow me to wish you all the best in your gaming endeavors.
