Welcome again to Masters and Minions, where I strive to give you interesting NPCs and encounters that can be placed easily into your game. This week’s encounter is with the kobold Tyldaros, the Dark Prophet. Tyldaros is a cleric who follows the evil god of the kobolds. Not too long ago, heroes attacked and destroyed the temple that Tyldaros used as a base of operation for him and his followers; Tyldaros was the sole survivor of this attack. Tyldaros is currently hiding out in a shanty town outside of a major city. Since their arrival, the roads into the city have become much more dangerous. Tyldaros (disguised as a human) has been stirring up the poor and oppressed inhabitants of this shanty town with promises of power and riches.

While entering or leaving the city the PCs are attacked by one of these mobs, who have been stirred up by Tyldaros. This mob should consist of several low-level commoners, and they surrender the moment they realize they have no chance of surviving (so most likely somewhere around the second round of combat). They beg for forgiveness and, after a bit of interrogation, they tell the PCs the very little information they know about Tyldaros. With this information the PCs are easily able to find the prophet’s shack toward the center of the shanty town.
Tyldaros starts off the fight by buffing himself up with righteous might and divine power. After he is finished buffing up he attacks without mercy, alternating between unleashing torrents of area attacks and attacking with his spear.
