Obscure Arcana Archive

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another edition of Obscure Arcana, where we bring you new spells to empower mages of all classes and backgrounds. This week is Damsel Week here at Necromancers of the Northwest, and so today’s magic will be geared towards that theme. Since young unmarried women is kind of a weird theme for magic spells, I’ve decided to focus on the most common association of the term damsel, that of the damsel in distress and create a number of spells designed to get those unlucky girls out of trouble.

Dragon Wrack

Dragon Wrack

This spell is a favorite of dragonslayers both heroic and villainous.  With a successful ranged touch attack, you deal 1d12 points of damage per caster level (to a maximum of 10d12 at 10th level) to creatures of the dragon type.

Inner Knight

Inner Knight

This incredibly potent spell empowers a weak individual with the strength to save themselves. The target gains a number of bonus Hit Dice (d10s) equal to the difference between their character level and your caster level, the commensurate number of temporary hit points (apply the target’s Constitution modifier, if any, to these bonus Hit Dice), and a competence bonus on attack rolls equal to the number of bonus Hit Dice they gained. The bonus Hit Dice count as regular Hit Dice for determining the effect of spells that are dependent on Hit Dice.

Mage’s Charge

Mage's Charge

This humble spell grants the caster the ability to offer potent defensive abilities to the defenseless. For the duration of this spell, the subject gains all the defensive abilities that would be granted to any familiars you possessed. For more information on familiar abilities, see the wizard class in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook. The subject does not gain any other traits offered to familiars, such as scry on familiar, nor does this spell grant you any bonuses.

Protection From Curses

Protection From Curses

This simple spell repels most curses and can offer the subject substantial protection against an assortment of supernatural dangers. For the duration of the spell, the subject gains immunity to the spell bestow curse. Additionally, the subject receives a +4 bonus on all saving throws made to resist the harmful effects of curses.

Protection From Enchantments

Protection From Enchantments

This protective spell wards the subject against certain mind-affecting spells. The subject gains a +2 bonus on all saving throws made to resist mind-affecting effects of spells of the enchantment school.
