Rage Spells

Bloodragers have a pretty good spell list. They get lots of useful spells they can use to buff themselves up and hit harder, or avoid taking nasty hits themselves. But they don’t have very many spells all their own, which specifically tie into the flavor of rage-powered magic. Today’s article is designed to give bloodragers who want a selection of slightly more flavorful spells a few more options to choose from, with spells that are more powerful when cast while raging.

CALL OUT
School enchantment (compulsion) [emotion, mind-affecting]; Level antipaladin 2, bloodrager 2, magus 3, paladin 2, ranger 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target one creature; see text
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw Will partial; Spell Resistance yes

You draw the target’s attention to you, forcing them to focus their hostilities on you and you alone. The target must succeed on a Will save or be compelled to direct any hostile actions they make against you, rather than any other target. The creature is not forced to perform any particular hostile action, or even to take a hostile action at all, but cannot perform hostile actions that do not include you.

Even if the target succeeds on his saving throw, he suffers a –2 penalty on attack and damage rolls made against other creatures, and the saving throw DCs of his spells are reduced by 1 for all creatures other than you.

This spell can be cast while under the effects of a barbarian’s rage, a bloodrager’s bloodrage, or the rage spell. If it is, you can target one additional creature per three caster levels.

RAGING ASSAULT
School enchantment [emotion, mind-affecting]; Level antipaladin 3, bloodrager 3, magus 4
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range personal
Target you
Duration 1 round/level (D)

You fill your mind with rage, and a desire for focused destruction drives you onwards. When using the full-attack action, each time you successfully damage a creature, you gain a +1 morale bonus to attack and damage for all further attacks made against that creature until the end of your turn. These morale bonuses stack (so, after two successful hits against the same creature, you would gain a +2 morale bonus to attack and damage for the third attack, and so on).

If you are two-weapon fighting, these bonuses apply to each weapon separately.

This spell can be cast while under the effects of a barbarian’s rage, a bloodrager’s bloodrage, or the rage spell. If it is, the morale bonus to attack and damage for each successful hit increases to +2, instead.

UNDYING RAGE
School necromancy; Level antipaladin 4, bloodrager 4, medium 4
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range personal
Target you
Duration 1 round/level (D); see text

You cause your spirit to overflow with such rage that even death may not be enough to stop your onslaught. If you die during the spell’s duration, your spirit leaves your body and attempts to inhabit that of your killer. This functions as the spell possessionOA, and the target is entitled to a Will save to resist the effect. The possession effect lasts for 1 round per caster level, even if this extends beyond the spell’s normal duration.

This spell can be cast while under the effects of a barbarian’s rage, a bloodrager’s bloodrage, or the rage spell. If it is, then as long as you are possessing the creature, you gain a +4 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls.
