Welcome again to Masters and Minions, where I strive to give you interesting NPCs and encounters that can be placed easily into your game. In honor of shark week, this week’s encounter is with the iron tooth shark, an ancient species of shark and a close relative of the dire shark.

The PCs hear tales of this massive fish from local fishermen. They speak of ships being swallowed whole or bitten in half. Most people just think these stories are just tall tales, concocted to explain why a couple ships have turned up missing. But after more ships fail to return to their harbor, some people begin to take stock in these tall tales. The PCs end up being hired to hunt down this monstrous shark.

The iron tooth shark attacks large boats from the side, ripping large chucks of the boat off as it makes it pass.

The iron tooth shark’s teeth can be harvested to make weapons that count as adamantine weapons.
